In this session, we will explore how to choose the right methodology for an audit project, from setting specific objectives and estimating resource costs to sampling claims for review. These are the first and often most important aspects of creating an effective audit, yet they tend to receive less attention from auditors and compliance professionals. We will define the types of audits, how they serve different goals, then discuss relevant statistical terminology and sampling techniques and how they can be applied in a healthcare compliance context. Attendees will come away with a clear decision-making matrix for designing effective compliance audits.
